Manakish or Manaeesh is an Arabic food consisting of dough topped with cheese or thyme or ground meat, but used widely in many Middle Eastern countries. Similar to a pizza, it can be sliced or folded, and it can either be served for breakfast or lunch. the word manakish is the plural of the word mankousheh in arabic. Ingredients Easy Dough (see Dede’s recipe) 1/2 cup Zaatar (Dede’s thyme spice) 1/2 cup Olive Oil 1/4 tsp salt corn meal for pan flour for rolling Directions Roll out dough into 4inch diameter rounds. Mix zaatar, oil and salt together and spread 2 tbs on the dough. Place dough on cookie sheet sprinkled with corn meal. Cook for about 12 minutes on 350 degrees. Serve with labne or olives, tomatoes and cucumbers.

you can make cheese manaeesh too, just top the dough with your favorite cheese and if you can find akawi cheese then it will taste super authentic :)

@virusboss93 you can top the dough with anything, check out my lahme bi ajeen recipe for the meat one, and for the cheese one just top the dough with your favorite cheese, preferrably akawi cheese :)

@jyothibg- try a little citric acid, it gives a good tartness, also mix it in extra virgin olive oil.

Well if you don't have sumac then you can just eliminate it and maybe squeeze some lemon on the zaatar after you finish baking it :)

hi, i have been trying out your recipes and I am eager to try out the zaatar. I remember eating some on my trip to abu dhabi. They used to make really fresh zaatars out there. I live in India and I dont think I have come across any store that sells sumac here. It would be wonderful if you can give me a substitute for the sumac. Thanks again for all your great videos
