These are just mini, bite sized open meat pies that look cute and smell great. They make great appetizers or main meals and go great when served with a fresh lemon or Greek yogurt. Ingredients Dough (See Dede's Easy Dough Recipe) 1 lb ground beef or lamb 1 cup finely chopped onion 1 cup finely chopped tomato 1 tbs red pepper flakes (optional) 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp ground black pepper 1 tbs Dede's seven spices Olive oil or olive oil spray Melted butter (optional) Directions Prepare easy dough recipe and form dough into 1 inch small floured balls and cover with plastic wrap, set aside. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, mix meat, onions, tomatoes, 7 spices, salt, black pepper and red pepper until well combined. On a floured surface roll out the dough balls into 4-6 inch circles. Place 2 tbs of the meat mixture in the center, pinch opposite sides of the dough and form a square by pinching 4 sides together. Place the sfeeha squares on a nonstick sheet pan, or on a sheet pan sprayed with olive oil spray. Bake the meat pies for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Remove meat from oven and paint the pies with melted butter or spray with olive oil spray to give them a nice gloss. Serve with Mediterranean yogurt and slices of lemon. Reheat in an oven or toaster oven for 5-8 minutes to keep the dough soft and crunchy.

Yes, I used your dough recipe. Insha'Allah, I will try again this week. I'm pretty sure the flour here is different. I'm in the UAE and I have noticed everything I make using the flour here has a slightly different consistency.

interesting version :)

did you make your own dough? Try using my dough recipe. With the meat try straining it in a paper towel first to make it less "wet". Hope this helps.

Hi Dede! I love your videos. The first time I made these they came out perfect. I don't know what happened between then and now. I live in a different country and I am wondering if the dough here is just different. I tried making these and the lahme bi ajeen and with both the same thing happened. The meat was very wet and it would make the dough soggy. The part of the dough that the meat was on would never cook properly. Should I pre-cook the ground beef and then place it on dough?

it tastes better adding to the mixture fresh mint, green and red fresh peper and garlic. then when it s spread on the dough , a little bit of olive oil or butter could be added on top of each portion. this was my mum s specialty and thanks

next time you need to knead the dough a bit more and maybe add some more flour so that the dough is a bit more firm. You also need to make sure that when you pinch the dough together it sticks.

The dough came out pretty good texture while but really needed some salt, however I used it for the meat pies and the dough would not keep shape. It kept spreading in the over and getting flat, the pie shape wouldnt stay. They looked too sloppy to serve and it was a dissapointment, please give me some tips on how to keep the shape as I have tried several recipes with same problem.

Palestinian... Our family doesn't use tomatoes or pepper, but do use pine nuts. We saute the meat with spices and onions, then fold in yogurt and toasted snobar before putting them on dough, so meat bakes with yogurt... just another method, baked yogurt is the BOMB. Thanks for your hard work, Dede :)
