Medjoul Date Balls Recipe
Recipe Categories: AppetizerDessert
Written by

Medjoul dates are naturally sweet and this makes a great dessert or appetizer. These little date balls are easy to make in advance so that you can enjoy your guests and not worry about spending to much time in the kitchen. They go great with coffee or tea time as well. The toasted pecans and coconut go great with the sweetness of the dates. Ingredients Medjoul Dates Pitted (12 large or 16 small) 1/2 cup melted butter 1/2 cup toasted crushed pecans 1 cup toasted coconut 1 cup crushed pistachios mini cupcake liners Directions In a food processor, blend the dates in 2 separate batches until in a paste consistency. Add both batches back to food processor and turn on, slowly add melted butter then add toasted pecans. Place the date mixture into a bowl. Form 1 tbs size date balls, roll each date ball in the toasted coconut or pistachios. Place each rolled date ball in the cupcake liner, refrigerate for 1 hour before serving. As an alternative to nuts, you can use crushed graham crackers or other types of nuts.

hi dede i have a question that is not related to this dessert. do you know how to make karboush halab that sweet done on ramadan. if yes where we can find that information? thanks
By: LucifersUndertaker
well if you are buying them from the store then they do NOT need to be washed, i actually have never washed my dates before. If you feel uncomfortable doing that then I would suggest just brushing them off with a soft brush. I hope this helps and thank you for your support, always :)
By: dedemed
yes they are wonderful and so naturally sweet, I love the desserts that nature provides :)

Dede I have a burning question about dates, and I can't find the answer anywhere. Before consuming dates or putting them in recipes, HOW do I clean them??? Also thanks so much for answering every question I have. It's refreshing to know you care that people learn and have fun, I really appreciate and I'm sure thousands of others do too. Oh and I made ghallaba the other night and it was ZAKI. I wasnt sure it would be but your recipes are magic! Thanks again!

@virusboss93 Exactly, I couldn't remember that term :)
By: dedemed
you can use either, saltiness helps to break down the sweetness of the date, you can use either :)
