Kefta or kofta In the simplest form, consist of balls of minced or ground meat — usually beef or lamb — mixed with spices and/or onions. They can be grilled, baked or cooked in a pan. Kefta as an alternate can be made with ground chicken or ground turkey as well. Ingredients 1lb ground beef 15% fat 1/3 lb ground lamb 2 tbs chopped parsley 1tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp sumac 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1 tsp Dede's 7 spices olive oil for pan frying 3 tbs melted butter Directions Combine all ingredients except olive oil. Shape meat into 2-3 inch ovals or shape onto skewers. Cook on grill for 3-4 minutes on each side and be careful while turning not to break the meat. Or heat a pan and add 2-3 tbs of olive oil and add kefta ovals, cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until browned. Paint with melted butter before serving warm. Serve with hummus, garlic, pita bread and salad.

HI Deanna, if you use the keft spice then you don't need the seven spices, nutmeg, sumac or black pepper.

Thanks for the recipe. I've purchased all my ingredients and now that I'm rereading it, I just want to clarify the amounts on the spices, so if I'm using the 7-spice, I still use 2 tablespoons of the kabob spice? Sorry I don't want to ruin it. Thanks again!

Dede I noticed most lebs/palis eat LAMB. Do you think most lamb recipes can transfer over to goat if one wants to eat a little leaner?
