Kefta bi tahini casserole is a great way of throwing together ingredients in your kitchen. What's better than ground beef topped with potatoes, a tahini sauce and served with fluffy rice? This dish is easy to make and is a different version of kefta bi sanieh. This authentic Lebanese dish is a favorite at the dinner table and great for left overs too. 1 lb ground beef or lamb 5 large potatoes 2 cups Greek Yogurt ⅓ cup lemon juice 1 cup water 2 tbs minced garlic 2 tsp salt ½ cup tahini paste ½ cup finely minced onion 1 tbs seven spices ½ cup pine nuts 1 tbs olive oil Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Wash and slice the potatoes into ¼ inch slices, lightly coat with olive oil, ½ tsp salt and place the potatoes on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. In a large bowl mix meat, onion, 1 tsp salt, seven spices and mix well. In a casserole dish flatten out the meat mixture and with your fingers poke groves into the meat, place the casserole dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes. In a 2 to 4 quart pot, mix together yogurt, tahini, ½ tsp salt, garlic, water and lemon juice and let simmer for 5 minutes. Next, place the potatoes on top of the cooked meat and then carefully pour the yogurt/tahini sauce over the meat and potatoes. Place the casserole back in the oven for another 15 minutes. In a small sauce pan, toast the pine nuts in 1 tablespoon of olive oil until lightly browned. When the casserole is ready, sprinkle the toasted pine nuts on top and serve with DedeMed’s brown rice recipe.
